If you’re interested in options trading, but are unsure whether you can get approved or not, follow the steps below.
Sign into your brokerage account. This might be TD Ameritrade, Charles Schwab, E*TRADE, Fidelity, Interactive Brokers, or Webull. Currently, Olive is integrated with TD Ameritrade. More brokerage integrations are coming soon.
To access the options approval screen in TD Ameritrade, use the Search tab to look up "Options." Then select "Request Options Approval or Upgrade" from the Quick View menu.
You will then be asked to complete the application which asks some general questions about your personal information, employment status, financial info, and investment objectives. HINT: Higher options approval levels allow for more aggressive investment objectives.
Submit your application.
When your application is reviewed and approved, you will be assigned a trading level. With TD Ameritrade, the four levels are covered, standard cash, standard margin, and advanced. In order to execute outcome trades in Olive, you must be approved for Tier 2 (standard margin). You can always update your trading level later on, and each brokerage may have different standards for upgrading approval level.
